sighs. was reading fruits basket and saw this really sad part, got me all depressed. not like it makes much difference, yeah so...
for those people who dunno what fruits basket is about, its an anime bout this 12 people, from the sohma family. each of them represent one member of the zodiac. everytime they get hugged by members of the opposite gender, they turn into their animal form. then there's the outsider, the cat. plus there's this girl, tohru honda. she's like the main character in the story. and the other 2 main characters are the cat, kyo sohma, and the rat, yuki sohma. oh and there's the dog, shigure sohma. i like the cow (!!), hatsuharu. just ask callie...!
yeah so the sad part is about this guy called momiji, he's the bunny. well then he seems really childish, but is really very understanding. (: so well, the thing is, his mother doesn't remember him. cos the parents of the 12 zodiacs either get super overprotective of their child, or reject them completely. this mother chose to reject momiji. and then this mother got even more ill, and blah blah blah... and then there's this character in the story, called hatori. he's the dragon. yeah yeah he can't turn into the dragon, i know. whatever. so well he can erase people's memories. so well the mother chose to forget her son. she asked hatori to erase her memory. oh yeah the mother said before that "the biggest regret of my life was to giving birth to that creature!" quite the loving mother, you think?
well, momiji was told about this, of course. his dad told him "momiji, your mother is very ill. she may not pull through this. but, there is a chance that she'll get better if she were to forget you. i know this will be terribly painful for you, momiji, but papa promises to shower you with double... triple the love to make up for it. if you truly love your mama, momiji, you'd wish to save her too, won't you?" i personally think the last sentence is like the saying, "if you love him/her, you'll let him/her go." like, whatever.
and i guess its really touching, he thinks that he saved his mother (which is kinda true) and yeah, i know you guys might think its, well nothing much, but i feel that it really is great. well he was telling this to tohru, and he said this "but you know what i think? momiji would still rather live with the pain of those memories... even if its a terribly sad memory... even if if its a memory that will cause nothing but pain... even if, its a memory that i might wish to erase from my mind forever... i believe that, if i hold on to those memories instead of trying to run away from them, one day, if i try really hard, one day i will be able to overcome those sad memories and turn them into something positive... i really believe that. because i really want to believe. i believe that no memory is ever worth forgetting....not a single one. that's why... that's why i wished mama... i wish she would've fought harder... but i guess that is just me being selfish." really touching, eh?
and i dunno, at the end of that chapter, there's a string of words saying "it doesn't matter if they are good memories or bad memories, so long as they are mine, i want to hold them in my heart for always..." don't we all feel like that?
its just, honestly, can you imagine? your own mother, who is supposed to be like the closet to you, hates you so much and wants to forget you. can you imagine the kinda heartache you would have felt...? touch your heart and think honestly. would you be as understanding as dear momiji...?
its just well i feel like that too... like, even if it makes me so damn sad just thinking bout it, i can always turn them into good memories, cos there will always be something good bout it :)
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart...but the very next day, you gave it away...
This year, to save me from tears, I'm giving it to someone special...
